I had mool naengmyun at Yu Chun on 36th and 5th ave. with my friend Julia last week.  Black noodles, slushy broth… but just so-so… not the same as the one in LA.

  • yum~ i had green tea noodles on my neng myung last week at some hole in the wall place in queens. i liked it but it was weird seeing green :p

  • Your page always makes me hungry! Thanks for all the recipes and pictures..

  • i hear not many places compare w/LA korean food..

  • i dind’t really like them that much either. i prefer buckwheat noodles.

however, the real places to get neng myung i hear are in pal park in nj and flushing, not midtown.

  • is this in nyc?  thanks.

  • omg that looks so awesome right now… it’s like 110 degrees in cali.  woo!

  • yummy… those are so good on hot days like today… 105 in the valley :(

  • i have been searching for good neng myun forever.  haven’t found it yet in ny…

  • i heard that nengmyun is also really good to eat when it rains on a hot, humid day. i have yet to try this out, but i hope i will soon.

  • which nengmyun places are considered your top picks in LA?

  • Yes, I’d like to know some recommendations in LA too!

  • i might need that in la….it’s gonna get hot this weekend

  • u should try yuchun in palisades park, nj. i can’t vouch for mool nm but the bibim nm is da bomb.

  • Finding a good naengmyun place is the hardest thing! too bad that this is my favorite korean food.

  • OHHHHHHHH naeng myun…. i’ve only eaten the bibim buckwheat nm, never tried mool. it looks tasty!

  • My two roommates are Korean (I am Chinese), and they keep talking about neng myung all the time. I will need to try this neng myung. =)

  • They have pretty good neng myun in flushing, queens. Anyone have any good recipes for homemade neng-myun? I now live in PA so don’t have as much as access to good korean food.

  • which one in LA?  the best i had was at chosun galbi in ktown

  • i love cold korean noodles, but why does it look so jello-ie??

  • LA’s yuchun has seriously gone done the drain these days though…

  • Whenever I go to Atlanta for Korean grocery runs, I stop by Tofu 88 for naeng-myun.  It’s fantastic there.  Ice cold broth with slush and condiments on the side (gochu, vinegar, and hot mustard) that you can add according to your taste.

When at home I usually depend on the packaged variety.  Once I tried to make it from scratch but accidentally added too much hot mustard oil and almost committed mustard induced suicide at the dinner table.

  • i looooooooooooooooooooooooove naengmyun!

  • the mool naengmyun at kunjip on 32nd is pretty good.. tastes a lil diff.
i didn’t like the one at shilla at all..

  • isn’t this called “chilk” naengmyun and not mool naengmyun? the slushy broth? b/c when i was living there i preferred chilk to mool naengmyun…

  • The yoo chun in bayside/flushing is better than the Manhattan one and the pal park in nj is better than the basyside/flushing one.

I often make my own with homemade mul kimchi water but it is different tasting than the yoo chun style.
