Whenever I go to a restaurant and order a coke, I crush the can when it’s empty. I often split a soda with someone else, so that’s how you know that it’s finished and don’t pour in vain.
I never even noticed that I did this all the time until Mr. Bee pointed it out. Do all Korean people crush their soda cans cuz my friends and family do it. Or is that just me?

Is that a Korean thing, even?
Your cans look different there than they do here.
Oh, I do that too btw. Except I crush it completely first by squeezing its sides, then turning it in my hand and crushing it straight down between my fingers and my palm. But I think that’s just because I like crushing things.
Just you, man, just you.
(good idea though, btw)
huh..i didn’t even know that crushing cans means that it’s finished and stuff. how interesting.
i just fool around with the can, pushing the sides in a little bit and then trying to straighten it out.
just u, i avoid soda
hahaha that’s so cute!
HAHAHA i ALWAYS crush the cans! i didnt know it was korean thing. i just do it out of habit. when you’re drinking beer can after beer can, you have to crush it so you know it’s empty!
lol. i used to do that. don’t worry. you’re not alone!
puahahah! i have never heard of doing this before!
cans and cig boxes.
i crush beer cans to show that it’s done. i will NEVER leave my beer unattended b/c you never know who will ash in your can thinking it’s done.
nope, i don’t do that. do you have pent up aggression?
i crush my can at clubs so i can warn people not to drink out of it (if someone ashed/spit in it or something) not normally at restaurants though.
no i do it too.
but i realize..im the only asian who does it out of my friends.
i don’t drink soda that much, but i don’t think i crush it all the time. maybe sometimes. :p
omg I totally do that! But it’s because when we’re out drinking people tend to ash their cigs in the soda cans so once it’s empty we crush it to inform the smokers it’s OK to ash in there, but NOT in the uncrushed cans.
bored fingers..lol…
i do that, but i’m not korean.
i do it everytime as well.
hahaha I’ve never seen people do that
but it is quite thoughtful of you.
i think it’s you haha
my ummah does that… the funny thing is she didn’t know until a lil’ kid pointed it out to her… “connie ummah, i bet i can tell you how many beers you drank.” “oh yeah, how many” “# (don’t remember exactly how many)” “how do you know?” “cuz i counted all the crushed cans.”
laughing
people do it especially when you’re at a club or noraebang and you’re just pouring yourself a beer into a cup but there are just so many cans. the crushed ones are the empty ones so it makes it easier.
no i do it too..
i dont do it but i think it’s a k-club thing … hahaha
i do that with soda cans and cigarette boxes.
Yup, always crush empty things.
just you.
i didn’t know that crushing cans means that it’s finished… interesting.
i never heard of this.
how funny! i don’t do it and i don’t know anyone else who does that either.
I crush my soda cans, and then i fling them like a frisbee.
no, I don’t do that. looks like it could be a norebang/ club thing…
haha. i wouldnt notice a crush like that. i would still pour and then look stupid. you should look tough and crush it completely. hehe. then i wouldnt pour for sure.

Hi, I am trying to get alot of comments and breck the record of the most comments, so can you help me out?
I have been to Korea three times, and i’ve been in many restaurants. We don’t mess with coke. We drink beer and so-jou from glass bottles. Mostly, we put the empties on the side of the table.
Usually, the waiter/waitress doesn’t take them away. That way everyone can see how much we drank, I think.
I like being real Korean restaurants, because I like being the only foreigner that can handle stainless chopsticks.
i crush it too, but im not korean
I don’t do this, but I also only drink water…
nope…never heard of korean peeps doing that. next time you should crush it on your forehead and rip your shirt in half
hm… only when i feel hostile.
my husband doesn’t crush..but I do..and he’s the Korean one in the relationship..go figure
wow.. can-crushing is so attractive! hahah.
i dunno.i noticed my cousin doing that with every beer can a few months ago.. i thought it was just him. maybe it’s a cali thing. he’s there now. i don’t remember if he did that before he went over there.
My wife who is from seoul says it’s a korean thing that is a habit because you are charged by bag for recylcling and trash pick up and you need to crush it down to save money. It’s more then a habit, it’s an ettiquette.

haha
I don’t do it, but I think my mom does. Maybe to signify to the waitress that the can is empty so she can ask if we need more?
Hehe! I do that too, influenced by my Korean classmates from college whenever we’re done with a can of beer!
I used to crush pop cans with the heels of my shoes when we were camping and then walk around and pretend i was wearing high heels or something~ Ahhh to be young again…sigh~
