Mr. Bee and I had dinner at Hanbat tonight because I was really getting sick of Kun Jip. It was decent, didn’t like the jaeyook bokkeum too much, but I’ll give it anothe try. My dream is to open a Korean/Mexican/Thai/Dungeness Crab/Top Dog Hot Dog restaurant in New York. All the foods I miss.
Jaeyook/kimchi bokkeum, sullungtang and ojinguh bokkeum.
Check out these huge rice cookers.
After dinner, Mr. Bee and I went home and we were just hanging out. He said to me, “Your gums are bleeding!” I said, “Are you sure?” He double checked and said that they were. (Note – it was pretty dark.) I went to the bathroom to look in the mirror and saw…. gochugaroo (red pepper flakes) stuck on my gums. Hahahaha… The moral of the story is, always check your teeth after eating Korean food.

i think han bat sullung tang is better than gamee ok’s.. but still doesn’t compare to the han bat in LA.. the kimchi bokkeum bap at the NY han bat is pretty good..
i like han bat’s dol sot bibim bap! man i wish they had korean food on the island here. but i’ve been using some of your recipes and some of the things i can find here to make that 1 or 2 dishes. i can’t wait to go back to the states to eat my heart out of korean food!

since you’re the korean food expert, which are your favorite korean places in nyc?
hehe that is a funny story (:
wha?! You don’t use a toothpick?? isn’t it the KOREAN thing to do? Pick your teeth (like there’s no tommorrow)(cause my um-mah does that) again and again…like you never got that crap out of that ONE SPOT!?!? *lol* Just asking..=)
“…always check your teeth after eating Korean food”
So true. When I was in Korea this past summer, after almost every meal I ate, I felt the need to floss (I floss once a day). Never happens to me here.
magic word: dungeness crabs. oh, how i miss thee. it’s so hard to get them non-asian style here.
haha re bleeding gums. i always check my teeth after eating korean!
lol
LOL!
mmmm haaaanbat! =)
Hanbat has great delivery service. When I used to live in Herald Square, that place saved me many a mornings after long nights of drinking.
lol…i was thinking of this entry this morning and i found myself checking my teeth like 2-3 times on my way to work. i had kimchi ramen this morning for b’fast. i felt like i was coming down with a case of OCD. ^_^

Oh man! Jaeyook and ojinguh bokkeum are my favorites! I miss them. I studied in Cheonan at the Nazarene Dae-hakyo for one semester.
