LA Koreatown Restaurant Survey
Hey guys! Long time no see.

I've been living in New York for almost 4 years now, and I'm getting out of touch with all the Korean restaurants in LA's Ktown! So I'd really love to hear what your favorite Ktown restaurants are for the following categories:
1) galbi
2) dduk bossam
3) general Korean restaurants and other favoritesThanks and Happy Father's Day!

it really depends
1) I msut say that even though it is a soon du boo jib, bu chang dong makes pretty good galbee. I know Iknow, but it;'s pretty good
2) Shiktorak is good but pricey for a good prce quantity balance I'd go madang sae
3) sarit kol, like 2 or 3 blocks away from galleria on olympic
1. I like Suhrabal (sp?) on Western. For all you can eat, I like Mu Dung Seng, which I think is also on Western.
Seoul Garden for galbi, plus my friend's uncle owns the place!
Tahoooeeeeeeeee Galbi. For SURE!
I actually haven't been to K-town restaurants enough to know what's good. But I just wanted to say it was nice to see your post!

1) Galbi: Park's BBQ (for kalbi and kalbi tang), Chosun Galbee (galbi, service)
2) Dduk bohssahm: most are all the same, but I've been liking Haejangchon Dolgui
3) General Korean restaurants and favorites: Kobawoo (for doeji bosam, haemul pajeon, chungook jang, jaengban guksu, ojinguh bokeum), Yu Chun (for nengmyun, kimchi mandu), Dong Il jang (for roast gui, eundaegu jorim), Han Bat Shul Lung Tang, Oxford Palace Hotel, BCD, Myong Dong Kyoja (for kahlguksu and mandu), Hamjibak (for pork ribs), Seoul Garden (for Korean-style shabu shabu), to name a few.
i don't really like pork (or eat it that often, for that matter), but i
Hamjibak for their ribs!!! SO good! and it doesn't hurt that the owners are my auntie and uncle...but still, it is YUMMY!
I was in LA two weeks ago and got to stop in at Chungiwah again (on Olympic, near Crenshaw). Their meuntang was very good (and their other stuff's good, too), and their banchan portions are actually kind of intimidating if you don't bring enough people.
Similarly, the Korean place on the Redondo Beach Pier has a solid selection of seafood items, everything from crab through more meuntang (yummy), sea squirts, sea cucumber, etc, etc. Good stuff.
park's place is really good but they don't have dduk bohssham which i can't eat meat without. mah dang seh (james wood street i think?) is good too for galbi/chadol/etc. it doesn't have the best quality but it's cheap and pretty good. it's much better than manna, which i can't stand. i love chil myun something (neng myung place) on 6th street i think. they seriously have the best neng myung for the summer and great galbi tang. mah eul nara (it replaced where cafe new york new york used to be) and they have reaaally great gahm jah tang. there's so many more other restaurants that i like but can't think of their names. crap i'm hungry now. =(
i just go anywhere! don't know where the hell i am and but just eat!
you're missing out 벌.
have a great weekend though.
1) Tahoe Kalbi, Gilmok (in Cerritos)
2) Shi do rak
i'm scared to share this valuable information, because it might get busier than it ever has...
but... i can't help but to share the wealth.
3) On Dal 2 for ggot gae tang
3) Nakzi Village for well.. none other than squid
both are interactive styles of eating.. meaning you cook the food on your own tabletop, & they make you fried rice with leftovers (as if you didn't stuff yourself enough the first time).
hands down, those are my two faves!! enjoy~ =)
chosun galbi has damn good galbi and ggool dwaeji for dduk bossam. i <3 them both!
taeho kalbi on wilton and wilshire!! all you can bbq..the chadol and regular kalbi are the best.
3) BCD Tofu
1. Chosun Galbi, Soot Bul Jeep (Both kinda pricey, but quality of meat is best) If you don't mind the smell and fumes, head to SBJ.
2. Shikdorak
3. Surabol - great jung shik (galbi jeem is good); Gilmok in cerritos has the best dongcheemee gook soo
WOw, I just realized that either Shik do rak has paid a lot of people or their tok pok ssam is really good..
or most of us need to go out more and look for other places.
=p
1. sootbooljip
2. shikdorak
3. han il gwan has been my fave since as long as i could remember...
dang, i always crave galbi whenever i come to ur site.
btw, i was in nyc, and is it just me or is korean food tastier out west?
1/3. "the coner place" (gilmok)
2819 James M Wood Blvd
2. sootbul guirim 233 s. vermont st.
try the tongue, it's surprisingly pretty good..
buffet, dinner is about 20/person
shikdorak is dirty now.
